Quality products from this straw are only possible with high-quality straw. This quality is based on a set of specifications agreed upon in a five-year contract between each member and La Chanvrière, which includes:

• A specified annual tonnage to be delivered to the cooperative
• Straw color (or retting degree)
• Moisture content
• Sanitary condition
• Cleanliness (no foreign materials or plastic)

These quality goals determine how the straw is processed into fibers, hemp shives, and fines.

To meet market demands, La Chanvrière has equipped itself with several production lines to produce the following types of fibers:

• Fibres papetières (ou filasses) destinée principalement à la fabrication de papiers spéciaux  Paper fibers (or filaments) mainly used in the manufacture of special papers
• Fibres techniques, utilisables et non tissées, plasturgie, isolants  Technical fibers, for use in non-woven fabrics, plastics, and insulation
• Fibres à usage textile  Textile fibers

For each category of fibers, La Chanvrière ensures quality monitoring: moisture, impurity levels, color, fineness, and length. This is achieved using both internal control methods and external analysis equipment.
